Is it a tube device? I have a couple Pro MPA's that I retubed with high end NOS tubes and the sonic quality doubled. For another $50-100 in tubes, you'll have a very nice pre.
My understanding is that the TPS has a tube in it, but isn't a "tube" preamp like the MPA. So swapping the tubes may not make quite as much difference.
I have one of these I got about a year ago, and for the money it's not bad. I wish I hadn't bought it though. It's not what I was looking for. BUT, it's my fault, not ARTS.
One of those "shoulda had a V8" days when you go into the music store not knowing what you want and letting the kid behind the counter talk you into buying something. I should have done my homework before hand, but it was cheap and he said he liked it so I bought it.
