I've been researching for a while now and I think I'm about to purchase some basic gear to start recording onto PC. To me, a simple way to start seems to be the Tascam US-224 or US-448. Can anyone tell me about this stuff or suggest an equivalent? I'm looking to spend $500-$1,000. I basically want the digital equivalent of a 4 or 8 track cassette recorder. I don't think I want a stand alone digital recorder because I'd be doing a bit of sequencing as well as recording live instruments.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
