What’s the best standalone digital recorder - soundwise i mean .
Thinking about purchasing between Alesis ADAT HD24, Tascam MX2424, Mackie or even Otari II to use with my Mackie 1604 VLZ-Pro?
Or get a Roland VS xx, Yamaha or even Korg ?
And which one will let me bring the soundfiles the easiest way into PT/tdm 24 Core ?
Most important is a good, warm sound right from the start .
Any help appreciated .
Marc, The general consensus is that the RADAR is the best sound
Marc,
The general consensus is that the RADAR is the best sounding and most stable stand alone HD platform.. These are manufactured by IZ technology and are what used to be the OTARI Radars....Be prepared to spend a lot of cash however, they ain't cheap! If you don't think you can recoup an investment of more that 5k in the next year or so the best stand alone HD for the least money is the ADAT one. (around 2k) The ADAT machine has received favorable reviews and the converters are probably just as good as the ones that come in a Pro Tools interface. Both machines are capable of sending files to Pro Tools. Hope that helps.......Fats
