Not one of the usual topics, but have any of you guys got any tips for some neat unobtrusive CD shelves for the study, lounge. I am trying to avoid the normal bulky chipboard MDF type bookcases, and want to go for minimal brackets and perhaps glass or thin shelves, so that the CD's stand out, not the shelves.

I need to store a significant volume, say ~1000 normal jewel case CD's, and need to maximise economy of utilised space.

Any recommendations?

IKEA made a fantastic unit which houses ~340 CDs each. I can't remember what they were called (sun? surn? , some wierd scandanavian name.) Anyway, it mounts against a wall with bin drawers that pivot open vertically. I think it looks real nice because when the drawers are closed you don't see any jewel case clutter and everybody thinks the drawers have rolled into the wall!

I bought three of them (for ~1000 CD's). They are very low profile so I was easily able to fit three side by side against one wall.
