It will work. Not as efficently though as an Pentium 4 though.

The reason for this is because the Celeron CPU has only 128Kb (this might have been updated to 256Kb) of L2 Cache compared to 512Kb in the Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon CPU's. The newer 'Prescott' Pentium 4 CPU has 1Mb now of L2 Cache. The other reason is the FSB (Front Side Bus) speed. On the Celeron it's 400Mhz and P4's have a 800FSB. The FSB is the BUS between the CPU and Memory controller chipset and the RAM itself (in simplest terms), so the higher FSB speeds yeilds better overall performance. The Celeron if I remember correctly is also missing some of the instructions found on the P4 too.

Like I said though, it WILL work. Biggest differences are gonna be noticed when using Virtual Instruments (VSTi's +RTAS) and FX PlugIns (VST + RTAS).

It must be said also that the performance of the 'Prescott' with 1Mb of Cache does not out perform 'Northwood C' with 512Kb of Cache, like you would expect it to. This is because of other reasons. The Precott P4 also runs a lot warmer than Northwood C P4's.
