Hello!
I recently realized a lot of drummers play to loops rather than just a click track. This makes a lot of sense, it gives a lot more pockets for the drummer to play to, and makes editing drums a lot easier.
I was wanting to ask, what is the recommended way of going about this without having to sequence an entire drum track ? I would prefer arranging loops instead.
Regards,
Sidhu

Really? All the drummers I have worked with either play to a click, or are the click. I'll have to pitch that and see if I can give that a shot!

Ok.. i might be wrong in saying, a lot, but it makes a lot of sense for me... especially when editing... In addition, i feel if we get a tight enough performance, one can actually layer the recorded drums with the loops for added emphasis.
Cheers!

What you are proposing makes sense. If I want to work a tabla loop into a pop song, I'll adjust the groove of the drums to the loop. If the drummer instead laid his drums over the loop to get the groove, it would probably sound more natural than the way I have done it before. I think I'll go do that today. Thanks for sharing your idea!
