The store I work for stocks them, they were one of the pairs I was considering when I upgraded my monitors last year. They sound awesome, but that's the problem, they don't sound honest - not one single person that works at our store thought they sounded as flat and accurate as the similar price ranged Genelecs we sell (which is what I ended up buying instead of these). The Opals have come down in price since, but honestly I think they've got hyped bottom and top end, or scooped mids, depending on how you want to look at it!

If I had the money to blow on them for my home stereo I'd buy them in a heartbeat. But for studio use... even the offerings from JBL in the same price range were better than the Opals.

Ha, just read the reviews you linked, I guess those folks had the same opinions as me, except for whether they'd be happy mixing on something that flatters them - could just be that they've learned to work around such things better than I have, I'm much more comfortable hearing the truth about my mixes.
