ok. I spent a hour or so searching through the posts about the PreSonus Firepod, but I didn't necessarily find what I was looking for.
Currently, I'm recording with an old Yamaha M512 mixer, through my SoundBlaster Extigy, into Adobe Audition 1.0. This means that I have to EQ, Pan, and mix drums (and other multiple miked intsruments) before recording, and then I only have one stereo track to work with.
I have been looking for a way to do multiple tracks for drums and other stuff, and the Firepod looks like a good option (or at least much better than what I have now)
I guess I have a couple of questions:
1. Is the Firepod even worth buying? I have about $900 that I could spend. If there is something much better, around or below that price, I'd be willing to buy it.
2. Can I use it with Audition? Nothing against Cubase, I'm just comfortable with Audition ater using it for almost a year.

I bought a Mac so I can track in DP (since that's what my guitarist uses to write our songs) and I needed something with enough mic pre's to track live drums. Like ADK said, for the price, you can't beat it. If you have about $1k to spend, the MOTU 896HD looks good too...
