no. it doesn't work that way. i think you would be best off getting some kind of little stand alone recorder like a boss 4 track instead of messing with a computer unless you are pretty computer savvy.

You can indeed connect the microphone through your PP supply directly to the Harbinger speaker, but you can't record like that. However, I think you meant connecting it to the phone. If that's the case, there are adaptor devices available that would allow him to do that in the same way the Harbinger PA does, i.e. via Bluetooth. An example adaptor is the Alto.

Kurt's suggestion of an XLR-equipped portable recorder is an alternative. There are many portable recorders into which you can plug a professional microphone, and they can even supply the phantom power, albeit with a reduced battery life. One of the recorder models I have is the Zoom H4N, which, although about 10 years old now, is readily available second-hand.

For simplicity purpose, I agree a standalone recorder might be the best solution..
After that you can take memory card and transfer the recordings to a computer for archiving and/or mixing..

Zoom Makes many convenient recorders for many budget sizes.. easy to use.
