Hello,
I recently purchased a new Behringer Xenyx 1202 Mixer because I wanted to do some home recording.
I have with me at the moment:
-Behringer Xenyx 1202 Mixer
-Shure microphone
-Edirol USB Audio interface UA-1ex
These three items were recommended to me from the music store I had gone to in order to connect my microphone from the mixer so I could record onto the computer.
I am trying to connect my mixer through the audio interface so it connects to my computer. Therefore allowing me to record from the mixer onto the computer…however I am only a beginner so I am having a lot of difficulty trying to understand exactly how to do this properly…Im also having trouble simply setting up the mixer...everytime I have tried I have been unsuccessful.
Any help with this would be appreciated. Thankyou.

For basics though, find out the name of the Edirol's input in the (assuming Windows) sound panel and check the level is up, then set the source in Magix to be the Edirol's input.
Hopefully someone else knows more about the particular software though.
Oh and I'm probably sounding patronising with some of this, esp the first post. Sorry if I offended you.

I have already set the source as the Edirol, but my problem is that when I go to 'Sounds and Audio Devices' in my control panel, it doesnt let me increase the volume, its set on the lowest point at the moment and cant be increased coz its blocked out.
Sorry to bring this up again, but can anyone help me with this?

Everything is connected properly, my only problem now is when I go to 'sounds and audio devices' and set the device as the Edirol UA-1ex, the device volume cannot be increased in the 'Volume' tab, and is blocked off on 'low'.
Then when I search in the 'Audio' tab, the 'sound recording device' (which I have set as the Edirol) has also been blocked, meaning I cannot alter the volume, or check the properties...
It appears to be the only problem I am facing now, so if anyone could get back to me on this, it would be great.
Thanks.
Have you read page 54 of the manual yet? http://lib.roland.co.jp

Does this "Is the UA-1EX’s ADVANCED (mode select) switch set appropriately?" mean anything?
Mic -> XLR cable (largeish round 3 pin) -> Similarly sized input
Mic -> XLR cable (largeish round 3 pin) -> Similarly sized input on Xenyx.
Then, a cable from the L-R outs (top right) either the Red/White RCA leads into the Input on the Edirol.
Then set your software to input from the Edirol (software dependant, please tell us what program you're using) and then:
Turn up the level control on the Xenyx to about straight up (the zero mark);
Turn up the main mix slider (fader) at the right.
Start recording in your software and tap the mic. If anything shows up on the track/volume indicator then you're good to go, barring a few level adjustments. If not, check stuff.
Edit: If you have a quiet signal, turn up the black Gain knob on the Xenyx, and check the input level in your software (Windows's sound panel, perhaps).
