Anyone has tried any of these? You can buy a new one for about $999, which is cheap for macs. I have a G4 desktop which I use with Digital performer but I've been wanting a lap top to do remote recording and bring it back to my desktop. I just want to make sure there aren't any issues I should know about before I spring for one. I don't forsee using many plugs, if any at all, as this machine is not going to be for mixing, just for capturing basic tracks and bring them back to the studio to be dumped in my desktop- thanks 8)

hi there,
this is a great idea, since i use my 1ghz powerbook for both tracking and mixing. my engineer friend does all remote tracking with his 1.25ghz ibook. he can run more plugs than i can on my PB. you should have no problem doing this, and you will find many people use PB/iBooks for remote recording--like me!
