Incorporating samples into your sequencer

This is where the fun begins. I've always liked a good challenge. Getting the BPM's right, editing & locking samples into your project, then programming a def beat on your drum machine or sound module that'll give it that drive. Does anybody have any special techniques that they reley on or work with that they don't mind sharing with the rest of us that are "novices" ? :w:

I'll start off first. Usually I start with editing the sample (while in loop mode) , then once the sample meets my criteria , I then turn to the sequencer. With the sequencer , I do the same thing (tweak the sequencers' tempo adjustment). I'll take the two and combine them together. I use my drum machine for tempo allignment also. This usually gets me in range where I need to complete the foundation of the song.
