Hey Everbody!
Ok. . I've got a problem.
I've got this song with distortion guitar, synthesizer, and bass. The song is in C. The chord progression is C, G, A, F, G and then starts over. The synthesizer is playing in the high/mid range. Is it bad for the guitar and bass to play the chords on the same spot on the neck? We tried playing the guitar on higher chords but it clashes with the synthesizer and also doesn't sound as "FAT". So we switched and had the guitar play the lower chords and the bass play the higher chords and it lost all of its power. What should I do?

Two more 'clues'.....But first, do you have a capo? Do you know how to use one? You play the guitar as you did to 'cement' the "power"...Then you capo the guitar and play the part again using the appropriate chord voiceings for the key of the song for separation.
You also can look closely at the EQ of the instruments that are basically doubling the parts in the same register.
First try the guitar was in the same octave as the synth. Secon
First try the guitar was in the same octave as the synth. Second try the guitar was in the same octave as the bass. This is a clue...or two clues.
