I have only a modem(not in use)that was oem, and an oem ethernet pci card with nothing plugged into it,(pretty sure its not in use, as well)sharing band width with my raid controller.
I understand that # 8 if used, gives the best advantage, should I tinker?

Yanking unneeded hardware out of the box is never a bad idea. Cuts down power consumption if nothing else and you might gain back resources that the drivers occupied that were probably still loaded.

As to which IRQ works best ... ? It shouldn't really make any difference. Only thing is to make sure that the audio card(s) has it's own IRQ if possible. Sharing with "PCI Steering" is OK, though.

I only have one device using any of 6 available ports, & I have just disabled 2 of the 3 "DB/DBM" controllers, but there is also an "enhanced pci>usb" listed at the top of list including itself, 3 of the "db/dbm" ones, and 3 "root hubs", finally. Whats the difference 'tween the 2 type controllers, or what is the "db/dbm"?
thanks
