It seems to not have changed a lot, the overall feeling is a bit faster than 4.x. They fixed some annoying bugs and made few changes for more intuitive handling.
A new USB-only dongle, that stores all of your emagic-keys for EXS etc. is introduced and will hopefully be supported by other manufacturers in the future.
Audioediting is still clumsy, but improved sound quality (native).
BUT a real big step into audio-automation - even with a mouse, you have quite good control over the faders in the Trackmixer. You can individually define Automation-Status for each Track.
You can copy Automation-Data in the Arrange, apply curves on fades and other goodies. (Automation is independent from the environment - no more channel-splitters..phew)
So, no worries to learn on 4.x and later switch to 5.0 - there's nothing different to 4.x - it has just become more complex...
...just add the new functions to your keycommands and have even more fun!
This is spoken quite generally and I'm still digging for new features I did not discover yet.
Improved sound quality is what I am most anticipating with Logic 5. I assume the new POW-r dithering was added to the final output stage (transitioning from 32-bit float to 24 or 16 bit output). Were there changes made elsewhere too?
I would strongly recommend to stay with 4.81 at this point - 5.0 (update-release) has still some automation bugs - well it's .0 and sooooo delightful already - smooth fades, but stll abit dangerous, when unintentionally clicking in the volume or pan automation - resulting in a "hyperdraw" and minor anomalies like amnesia or is it just my alzheimer???

Thanks for the early heads up Pan! Care to elaborate on improved sound quality? That one surprised me! Are we talking summing bus issues??

Performance has really done a step forward!
