Is it worth putting your stuff on iTunes? Seems like an obivous yes, but I'm not so sure...

I'm going to be giving my songs away for free on my website, and through Sound Cloud etc. I will be putting a donation button on my website. However, I also like the idea of using iTunes for the reason that Ping and iTunes recommendations might open up my music to people that may not have otherwise heard it. The other reason is that some people buy music through iTunes simply because they don't know how else to get the songs on their phone. But, there's a big downside. iTunes screws customers, and screws artists. As I understand it, they decide how much to sell the tracks for, even when the artist is giving them away for free. Moreover, I heard that they snatch up 85% of the income for sales. I'd hate to think that some person accidentally buys my EP on iTunes only to find out that I am giving it away for free on my site.

So, it's almost a moral dilemma for me. iTunes may result in a little extra exposure, and possibly a little more income, but at the expense of cheating people who would otherwise get my music for free.

Is my understanding correct? What do you think?
