Has anyone used this at all?
and if so have they used it with pro tools? any problems?
trying to get some opinions on it before i dish out the cash.
or anyone got other guitar amp plugin suggestions?

Not sure that you can use it with ProTools. AFAIK you need to have your POD or Toneport connected and it's ASIO being used as the audio driver for it to work. Is this not the case. I suppose if it supports RTAS it would have to work, but I'm not sure how.
Edit: Ok. Just to answer my own question: you can in fact use Gearbox with ProTools. I like gear box. It's handy but hardware is so much nicer.

there's a new version called pod farm. the sound is basically the same, which is quite good, but the interface has been improved very much.
if you will use only the plug in without any line 6 hardware, like the toneport interface, you might want to consider alternatives from ik multimedia, native instruments, peavey...
but especially with the optional model packs gear box/pod farm is very usable. there are special promotions from time to time where you can get model packs very cheap. i purchased all model packs for under 100 euro.
