Hi everyone, I'm looking to get into the world of computer based recording, and at the moment I'm saving money to buy a laptop. I'm looking into the Apple Macbook 2.0 ghz intel core duo with 2 gb of ram. Ideally I'd buy that and a firepod to go with it. Would the macbook be able to handle recording the possible 8 tracks at once?

I'd invest another $150-200 in an external firewire hard drive.
I'd invest another $150-200 in an external firewire hard drive. The internal drives on laptops aren't Particularly fast. If you plan on doing any kind of looping or using any sampled instruments, you'll need a faster drive. But, on the other hand if all you plan on recording is 8 tracks, it should do fine until you grow out of it. Might even be able to squeeze 12 tracks in there without too many glitches.
It should be able to. I would recommend the Imac if thats all yo
