Has anybody here any experience with these? Especially in this configuration: ka200n + ka800a with mbp603 or 604 bodys. I hope to set up a nice field-rec setup and use it for small ensembles and soloinstruments.

Well, I'll try to be a bit more specific then. A few days ago, listening to a record made with a schoeps ms-set, I got converted. From what I'd learned, coincident techniques were supposed to lack a feeling of depth of field due to the missing phasing effects. I know better now. Looking at my savings the schoeps are a bit far away, so I am focusing on the mbho. What I wonder is: Is that amazing nice image something schoeps specific (I've read Greg Simmons' comparison of the schoeps with the senns,

in fact that's what confuses me...) or ist it simply the sound of that technique?

Welcome to the forum!!!

I wish I could comment on the exact setup you're referring to, but I cannot.

However, I can tell you that I recently had the opportunity to work with and hear a pair of their fixed capsule cardioid microphones through a Millennia pre and I must say, they were VERY nice. In fact, they were so nice, they just got moved to the top of my short list for microphone purchases in the near future. They're stupid-cheap and built quite well. I don't know why more people aren't using them.

If you do get a chance to try some, please let us know your results. I for one am very curious!

I use MBHO for a long time, KA100D with Jecklin disk, KA200 ORTF and KA300 (infra card).
They are not shoeps, but they were really cheaper here in Europe than in the US. But now the prices raises...
My 100D are very quiet but not very natural.
My 200 compare very well with shoeps MK4 on axis, but off axis they are not as linear.
My 300 are now my preferred to record concerts in natural concert hall. They are very clean with a nice top end (a little too high) and real low end. The directivity is just a little less than KA200. They are less quiet than the 100D and the 200.
I had some matching problems, but due to the life waranty, i had these caps changed for nothing by MBHO in Germany.
