Ever thought of just getting Native Instruments?. They have as far as I have found some very good modern synth stuff. And you can literally go crazy price wise, or less depending on budget. Also, Z3A+ from Cakewalk is a decent Synth.

It's virtually limitless these days. It's probably easier to describe what you can't get rather than what you can, and at the moment, I can't even come up with any that you can't get..

NI is a great recommendation - they've got nearly everything you could think of, from a Hammond B3 (NI B4) to World Percussion, to every conceivable new age pad/bed you could ever want, vintage electric pianos, drums, and they even have a collection of sounds and samples from the classic days of Abbey Road and The Beatles... drum samples, bass sounds, mellotrons, vocal effects, etc. and, they work seamlessly with every DAW Platform.

People like Hans Zimmer use libraries like this all the time to do major soundtrack work for film.

It's really all about how much you want to invest.
