I have a friend who actually played with that guy on a few gigs. He said he hit the cymbals so hard that this ears were ringing for days afterwards, and he was wearing ear protection too!
No kidding. He's pretty entertaining but I can imagine it gets old and becomes distracting.
Smaller stages suck too. Some gigs I've been on, I felt like I was violated from the cymbals. I feel for drummers jammed in too tight. Its awful for us all but when you are crammed and everyone is asking you to play softer than you are used to, its a real downer.
