Hi,

What you think about it? The preamps are Class-A ?

Please, tell me what level it is:

1- 9098, Avalon, ff ISA/Red, UA, Manley, etc.

2- ff Platinum, PreSonus MP20, TL Audio , Joemeek , etc.

3- PreSonus Blue, Behringer, etc.

Thank you for your opinion...

Well, I have 24 of them. I can't say what they are close to. The guy that designed them went for a Grace Audio type sound, minus the expensive faceplate, switches and stepped attenuators, etc.

They are the best buy in the 8CH remote-controllable preamp bracket. The Aphex units are $5k or so. Grace's are like $6-7k. There just isn't a whole lot to compare them to functionally, especially when you consider that they interface seemlessly with ProTools.

BTW, almost all of those preamps that you have listed in 1, 2 and 3 are not comparable in each bracket. A Manley is not clean like a Grace, etc. A Presonus is not on pa with a Behringer, as Behringer uses lower tolerance electronics in all of their crap, even if they have copied a circuit.

Hi!

Thanks for the comments!
I think that Grace makes great preamps...
So, the PRE i/o have class-A preamps ?

Concerning about the 'levels' I've made on this equips...
Yes, a Neve 1272 sounds totally different than a Avalon, but both are 'top' class-A preamps, don't you agree ??
I've estabilished this 'levels' based uppon this concept...

But, thank you very much for your impressions!
It was very important to me.
I'm considering a PRE i/o, also...

I would like to hear more opinions !
Does anyone know more about it ?!

You might be confusing "Class A" with "USDA Grade-A Quality".
It isn't really like Class A is best, Class B is next best, Class C is a little worse, and so on. I think API preamps are Class AB, and they are very nice. But it is easy to throw out "Class A" in a marketing sense that makes it seem like a preamp has to be class A to be studio-worthy.

Edit: Ah, you beat me to it, TVPostSound.

Class-A is not a measure of quality

I said " 'top' class A preamps "

Note to the 'top' word in my answer.

Yes I know that a Focusrite Platinum is Class-A but sounds (very) worst than a Neve 1081 - Class-AB.

Ow, forget about this...

I JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE PRE IO HAVE WORLD-CLASS PREAMPS (LIKE AVALON, NEVE, ETC.) OR HAVE THE SAME PREAMPS OF DIGI002, FOR EXAMPLE.

Please, someone knows about ??

Thanks

Thiago.

Quality wise, yes the Digi Pre is up there.
Soundwise, the Digi Pre does not sound at all like a Neve nor an Avalon.

The Digi Pre is transparent without obvious coloring.
Beware of the stepped attenuators, as they click between gain changes.
You can not ride the gain during tracking.

To ease your doubts, it is a great purchase for the price.
