When Micing a singer/guitarist, and perchance say that you are using an SM58 for the vocal mic, how would you position the mic to the singer? I sing straight into the mic with the back pointed at the amp to take advantage of the null zone of the cardioid pattern. But I always get better tone when I retrack it later holding the mic under my lips.

Actually you can hear this in my newly posted song, which no one is commenting on (go figure, it IS in the critique section lol). The verse was recorded later and the chorus is from the run through. Do a lot of you get similar results?
