For all I know, it may be a great product and a great company, but I'm concerned about what I didn't, couldn't, or wasn't allowed to see...

My views on Soundscape, Has created quite a ripple effect on the DUC,
General: "what is Pro Tools going to do?"

What does Soundscape offer that PT, or any other DAW doesn’t have?

The R.Ed is in my opinion the Best DAW out there. However due to the Lower price tag when compared to other high end DAW"s people get the "assumption' that it is not a Pro piece.
I find it to be More Pro then "PT" in a lot of ways.
First the Support is untouchable!
To be a true professional product, you must support your users with their primary interest as a priority, and not allow financial gain weigh in the decision, of that support. Soundscape is one of the very few who support their users in this way. The current software and all the current AD/DA's, as well as the new mixpander, is usable on the first HDR1 produced in 93'!!
What does this mean? As a studio owner I know that what I am buying has a longer life and value due to backwards support. I know that all or at least 99% of the new 'software and hardware" will work with my current system. (All software upgrades are free!)
At AES this year I spent a lot of time at the Soundscape booth to see what the company's direction is going to be. I was impressed to say the least. Now granted the majority of people believe that a company would tell you anything to get you to buy their product. Not so in this case, Soundscape is a small company, I had a chance to not only learn more about the company and it's direction, I also got to meet and talk to the proprietors behind Soundscape. What I found was a company that was dedicated to being the best at what they do. They were not interested in being a "money machine" (hence the lower price tag on there DAW's) the future of Soundscape is very huge. I cannot say what I had over heard At AES, in some very big name booths.
It would be considered hearsay and not credible. But, it did show me, that I was making a wise decision in buying the R.Ed.
I could go into a "list" of features, and tell you that its reliability is unmatched by any other DAW. I could also tell you that the R.Ed. Literally can be configured o work in any environment, Music Prod., Post, broadcast, radio ect..
But I am not going to go there unless asked too.
My only request is for you to go out and try it, look at it openly, with out bias, and you will walk away as I did. A believer.

discussion, where I voiced some concerns about Soundscape. The next time that I get
over to Las Vegas, I'm going to check it out.
