I was just wondering if there were any other fellow crate diggers in the forum to discuss sampling techniques.
My current sample set up is Shure M447 cart, Vestax PDX2000 turntable, Rane TTM56 mixer into a Delta 1010 soundcard. I record into Nuendo (It has a crisper sound than soundforge to my ears).
Anyone else into this?

I do the same using Ableton Live.
Not much in the way of technique to share, though, I just listen to a freshly purchase stack of crusty vinyl and when something sounds interesting, I sample it. Sometimes I like it enough to work on it right away, while other times I keep it for later. I usually end up processing the files quite heavily (time stretching, granular synthesis, etc.) but once in a while I'll leave a sound or sample as is, because that's just how I like to hear it back.
Also, and I never sample stuff that's recognizable, that's a moot approach, imo, at least for the stuff I do (dark cinematic electronica), I love going for the older and obscure stuff, international records from people no one's ever heard of, 60's stereophonic sci-ci and orchestral recording, basically the stuff you find in the bargain bins at most shops, the crap no one else wants is my gem.
