i don't use macs, but if they have firewire, which i'm sure it does, go with the firepod, i use one now, and i love it, does everything i want.. the 8 preamps sounds great. and you can upgrade to another firepod in the future using daisy chain, connecting them both with firewire, and now have 16 pre amped inputs, making it perfect to have your studio setup so you never have to switch cables cause they are all in there own one.

Ok here ya go, I have owned a firepod, and it was a good purchase. It has decent pre's, but not great converters. I would tell you honesty save your money, and get a mackie onyx. Better pre's, are to be found here in onyx land. If you really want to do firewire go with an rme fireface, I have yet to hear one bad thing about them. I have not yet familiarized myself with the firestudio, but I cant imagine it being that much better than a firepod.

the onix is love at first sight, i know that ('cause i fell... :), but it's limited with its outputs; if i want to make a different mix for the artists, i have to compromise the one i have for the control room. i'm thinking of maybe going for a saphire pro and later plug it to a digi 002 or other protools interface. what do you think? any other suggestion?
