I just purchased a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitors on eBay to be used as my main nearfields for mixing and tracking. I have been looking for some new nearfields and after comparing these to my "really" cheap JBL's they were the way to go. Now I will be able to hear the bass content of my mixes, not just hope that it's there.
My questions is what power amp would you recommend for this pair of speakers? I am not a professional and I'm going to be living in a dorm room in 6 weeks, so I need something practical as well as funtional. A few steps above my Yamaha tuner/amplifier, yet below the very high-wattage pro models. Any suggestions? Any ideas are welcome, even DIY.
Thanks,
Ian

You can start out with Alesis' monitor amps or move on up to something in the Hafler range.
As you didn't give any specifics on your speakers, (i.e; power requirements) I unfortunately can't be more specific.

6.5" speaker + Titanium tweeter. Max Power input is 80 watts. Should I just go with a 100 watt amp, or is there a reson to get more headroom?
Thanks,
