I do a lot of vocal-comping (setting the “lane” feature to ON, using locators & doing loop-recording). I have just been doing all my final take-choices (deleting dad takes) on the main project page (even though it might have been more organized to do this in the part editor). Later, when I try going into the part editor to view the events THIS way, all my final takes are spread out vertically (meaning, the takes that I deleted have left empty lane-spaces). I would like to minimize all this empty lane space by dragging my final takes to all be in parallel with each other. I tried it (as a test run) & it did not seem to do any harm. Before I start going crazy & doing this for all songs, I wanted to check with you all & get a second opinion. Have I described my concern well enough? Am I safe to drag my files like described?
