Tascam US-122L, problems with Cubase recording vocals

Hope you guys can help out:

I just bought a Tascam US-122L and for some reason I can't get Cubase to record vocals. I have everything plugged in and I followed the manual that came with it as far as setting up the device in Cubase but it just won't let the audio from my mic be heard. The pre-amp is detecting the sound because when I am making noise the light flashes so the mic works and it is picking it up so...I am at a loss on how to get this thing working.
