Hey guys!

I was wondering if any of you had the chance to hear the NHT M-00s.
I'm looking for a small pair of speaker for a small studio, and i heard so much good about those ones that i needed to ask the question.

And what about the KRK VXT 8 (or rokit?)?

If you guys have any recomandations, feel free to post them...

Thanks for your help

I have the M-00', minus the sub. Should have bought the sub :(. They are very detailed and smooth, mixes translate well to other systems. I use them in a portable rig where they really come in handy. I have a bigger pair of JBL 4410's for my main music room, but the M-00's are a nice choice where you want "honesty" in a small space.

Well, thank you so much for that input.
I'll sure try and PM Cucco.

Anyway, I'll let you know as soon as i get a chance to listen to those ones...

And if you have other recommandations for speaker in a small room, I'll be glad to hear them...

Thanks again.
EDIT:

Well, i couldn't PM Cucco, but i'll let you know what i thought when i will have heard them.

Hey, I just listened to the M-00 and a bunch of other speakers, and i have to say that sounded really good.
Not so much low end but what they do, they do it really good. Really nice mediums.
From what i heard, they'd probably be perfect for me, since i wouldn't be worrying about goin from one place (work) to another (home). I may need a sub, though...

What othesr speakers did i heard:

Alesis : bad bad bad.
YAMAHA MSP 5 STUDIO : I don't really know what to think. I found them interesting, but too much high ends to my taste. The person i was with, hated them.
Genelec 8030 : I'm sorry for those who hate them, but i do happen to like them. They're not perfect, but they were, with the NHT, the ones i liked the most. Maybe because i've been spending time with Genelc for 10 years now. The salesman hates them so badly that it was a little disturbing.
Passive ones (dynaudio and PMC) : Nice precision on left and right, but the closer you get to the center of the stereo image, the less precision and clarity... Maybe the amp wasn't so good.
Fostex (can't remember the model) : can't remember, but i didn't get back to them so often.

Anyway, it was really interesting to take the time to listen to them all. (not that i thought that it was a waste of time)

N.

So I'll have to choose between M-00 (with or without a sub), or the 8030.

Remember that the salesman has an objective and that is to MAKE MONEY!!! He is not looking after your interests, he's looking after HIS !!!
Genelec products, as a rule, are not big profit leaders for a retailer. They tend to be a "prestige" brand, a product that has the ability to draw clientle to the store. Your salesman was wanting to steer you towards something that makes him more commission, ignore him. Listen to your ears, they are true to your needs.

Well, thank you for that.

You know, even if i'm pretty sure what i liked, the guy kind of makes you feel like you don't know anything. But again, i know what i heard.... at least, what I liked...
And, another thing, i cannot believe that people would be so selfinterested, that they would lead you on a wrong path. I don't want to lose the last hope i have on mankind. But that's another subject.
Plus, the guy had some points, but all the speakers he liked were nice to listen to music at home, but i wouldn't want to work on them... But, again, i guess we have a different background, and different tastes, etc...

Anyway, I think i'll go back and focus on comparing the 8030 and the NHT, and make sure what would work best for me.

Thanks for the advices. I'll let you know what will be my final choice....

OK, so i went to another store and listened to the :

Dynaudio BM5a : A little harsh to my taste
Focal CM50 : reminded me of the solo6be, which i don't like workin on...
KRK VXT6 : really bad, but i guess it's not in the same league as the other ones.

I went back to the first place and listened only to the Genelec 8030 and the NHT M-00, and i have to say, now, I love the NHTs....

I just would like to listened to the JBL LSR2325, but i think my mind is made up....

The NHT M-00's are great speakers - if used properly.
First, they are low bass anemic. If you need low bass and these aren't "location" monitors, get the sub. However, they will do cleanly down to around 80Hz and roll off perfectly below that. DO NOT aim them in (toe them in). These monitors should be facing darn near dead on straight forward. They will act like a laser beam to your eardrums if you do.
You will hear details and resolution from these speakers that you can't/won't get from any other near its price. My main monitors are Adam A7s (another great "bargain" monitor) and Focals. I take the NHTs on location when I really need to hear what is going on.
They're heavy and built like tanks and should last 2 lifetimes.
Ken Cantor used to contribute regularly on these boards. He was one of the founders of NHT (though I don't know if the M-00 was one of his designs. It is supposedly based on the SuperZero which is one of the greatest mini-monitor loudspeakers of all time and I believe one of Ken's designs.) Perhaps if he still reads these boards, he can provide some insight as well.

Cheers!
Jeremy

What do you mean by that?

Anyway, thanks for those great infos. That is much appreciated.
My mind is pretty much made up now. I think I'll get the NHT with a sub...

Thanks for your help.
