Man, SPL makes some really fine gear and the Phonitor sounds pretty cool. I can see how I could appreciate this when you are tracking and midi programming in your control room like I do all the time.

Check this out.

Wow...I just listened to that video with my now cheapo ATH-M50's (now $99US) and it was really amazing even for YouTube!
That narrators voice on there was pretty darn rich sounding to me....Sign me up for one....I'll have to go and find out how much these go for now.....OK $2000...hmmm....I guess you get what you pay for....I still want one....just have to find a way...LOL
I suppose a pair of $2000 monitors and then a few more $1000 in room design is one way to look at this machine....right?
My thing is I've always used headphones for critical listening because there is so much spatial detail available and I bet you could make some seriously interesting mixes with this thing!

What I also find interesting is the 120V opamp design which are the same circuits used in SPL's mastering units.
These are +/-60V rail opamps with specs like:

Frequency Response: ‹10Hz to ›200kHz (-3dB)
CMR:-80dBu (@1kHz, 0dBu input level and unity gain)
Crosstalk: -67dB (@1kHz)
THD: 0,005% (@ 1kHz, 0dBu input level and unity gain)
Noise: -97dBu (A-weighted)

and finally "the big one"......Dynamic Range: 129,5dB (@ 600 Ohms Impedance) 130db of dynamic range! that is a substantial leap in my mind!
That has to provide a very detailed high resolution listening environment....I mean think about that for a sec.....
When we used to listen to mastered LP's at 80 and CD's at 90....where does that put us now!
I would think were talking some serious high definition audio....
So do you think this amplifier is next level of audio?

Looks like SPL has improved upon the original Phonitor. Here's the Phonitor 2. Its been around for a few years but never the less...

Beautiful monitoring equipment that I would love to own.
