Im really loving the third eye blind guitar sound. Basically, I like the write songs in alternate tunings so i can make big chords.

I like the heavy sound with these tunings. My amp right now is just not meant for distortion. But at the same time i want a good almost Chimey clean sound

Would i be better off with a Bogner alchemist or a mesa dual rectifier..*other options are ok too*

The thing about guitar amps is they generally only sound really fantastic on one channel. Dual Recs have great distortion, but the cleans are some of the blandest tube cleans I've ever heard. If you aren't a clean freak, then I think Mesa Boogies are a good choice. Plus, all the options the dual rectifier has really makes it versatile and convenient. There are always Carvin amps, which are very underrated if you ask me. The V3 is the first amp I've played that I really could radically change the sound on each channel without sounding noisy, bland, or processed. I use one and I don't plan on "upgrading" to a pricier head anytime soon: https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/single.php?product=V3 The X100B is also a great head for those who want more of an 80's rock sound: https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/single.php?product=X100B and the X100B cleans are on par with Fender cleans. Anyway, just my plug for Carvin (no, I don't work for them, just a satisfied customer). :D

Those that have hung out here a while know what my answer to this question is.

Conrad. In your case probably the Velvet Hammer, But then some of the Blues Jammers with the proper tubes and speaker setup would do the trick. Email him and send him soundclips. They're kinda expensive but no more than the big amp shops charge for hand made perfection.

Every weekend I hear and play on a Carr Hammerhead and a Bogner Metropolis. Both KILL. The Bogner is more versatile... the Carr is more JTM45 sounding.

For those of you who dont know who Conrad is, think Sunn Amps. He was the founding father.
