A very simple newbie problem that is very easy to solve...

You must set the locator points--L and R

So..set the beginning marker(L) to the beginning of the song and ending marker(R) to the end of the song!

Simple way of doing this is:
go to the end of the song and make sure the time line bar is there and press CTRL+2

Export audio...voila!

Hmm- i did do that but i put them round the wrong way i think! when i done it the "in between bit" was red- i will try the other way now...............................................................................................................................................

arrgh- there is another problem though- i got it exported into mp3, but there is just no sound at all- just silence when i play it/......................

is there something i have still missed?

One of things about Steinberg's mixdown is that exporting to MP3 seems to not work properly...at least the last time I checked which was several versions ago( beta testing versions that is! :D )

I'll recheck it again but to be honest I don't recommend exporting to MP3 directly from the application itself.

Export it down to a wave file then use Wavelab or any other program that converts wave to MP3 to do the conversion.

Yeah best to export to .wav anyway for CDDA reasons even if you plan on compressing it with something else. Also make sure your output bus was set up correctly and that it was, in fact, what you were exporting.

i exported it as wav and then used Cdex to convert it to mp3- a long way round but it works fine-

eh? you mean the drums in that song? well not exactly programmed- i done em myself (with fingers) on keyboard. the timing goes wrong every now and then but i think they sound more real than midi................(at least the midi drums on cubase 2).....
