i finally got the full version of cubase, nice.
when i try to import a mp3 file sometimes it decodes it and sometimes it doesnt. all the files play on the microsoft media player, but only certain mp3's it doesnt decode to a wave file.
when i click on it to import, it does absolutely nothing, not even a dialog box to say it couldnt or didnt do anything.
if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I think it has to do with the mp3 encoder that was used to encode the original mp3. Cubase uses the Fraunhofer encoder/decoder, and it is picky about what it decodes. Try to encode to mp3's with different program than you are using now.
Try Audio Catalyst, Lame, MusicMatch to start. To rip cd's to I recommend Exact Audio Copy.
Hope this helps.
