if it's not then the program can actually tax the system more heavily.
The information I've received from developers is that there is no advantage to 64bit as of right now, but that a year or two down the road that will change.
I'm sure that won't keep the marketing hype from making it's way into nearly every program and computer product that comes out between here and then.

There are no 64 bit audio programs available for the G5 yet, the OS isn't even fully 64 bit yet. The G5 has the ability to run 32 bit code natively with no speed loss, so the answer is yes, you can run 32 bit applications on a G5.
