Hi
I have a PreSonus Firepod which has 8 mic inputs with phantom power on 2 blocks of 4 inputs. At this moment I have 4 condensers and some dynamics.
I'm planning to buy 2 more condensers.
I would have to switch on phantom power for all 8 inputs.
Could I savely use dynamics on the remaining 2 inputs (sm57 / md441u / d112) ?
Or is it necesary to buy external phantom power to power my 2 new condensers?
Cheers

From my experience and what I understand from reading manuals, it is totally fine to have phantom power on while using dynamic mics. It shouldn't cause any problems. Dynamic mics simply ignore the DC current from pin 2/3 to pin 1.

be careful to remove phantom before connecting or removing the mic else a spike can damage the diaphragm
thank you very much, both of you cheers

Yes, as long as it is a balanced microphone and connection.
