Do most rock/emo/pop punk albums use triggers as well as Micing the acoustic kit? I've been wondering this for a while, because I read about the production of the new Gatsby's American Dream CD, and on their last EP they said they didn't use triggers and the drum sound was disappointing, but on the new CD they did and it sounds great (they used triggers on their previous full length as well).

Anyways, I was just wondering if basically most bands use them these days.

Also, I have an Mbox...I suppose 2 inputs wouldn't cut it when it comes to recording w/triggers...how much do you guys think it would cost to get a trigger kit/the appropriate MIDI hardware to record drums?

I know it's prob not gonna be cheap, just wondering what all you had to say about it

Thanks!

If you are running Protools there are quite a few ways to replace/trigger drum samples after you record the drums. Using PTs tab to transient key command you replace them by hand or try a plugin like Drumagog, Aptrigga, or Drumrehab. I use Aptrigga and it works great. The harder part is finding samples that are usable.
