Hello I am starting to mix one of my first projects and I was wondering at what freq. does does the Bass guitar and Kick drum usally run at? And also does a dist guitar generally cut the bass and let the bass guitar take care of that? Right now my dist guitar has a lot of low end.
Thanks :D

I try to get the right sound with amp and mic placement on guita
I try to get the right sound with amp and mic placement on guitars but it isn't unusual to have to cut a fair amount of bass frequencies from guitar tracks. I run into guitarists that must think they are bass players with the amount of lows they like in their sound. All I can say about what frequencies the bass and kick are in is ..........lots! Just play with EQ and you will learn where they are. Some mixes I end up backing some tone out of the bass and let the kick carry it and others it is just the opposite. Let the song tell you what to do. It always knows.
