Good all-around preamp for Guitar/Vocals

Hi all. I just wanted some opinions on what pre(s) to look at...
I want to buy one nice pre mainly for electic guitar and male rock vocals. I'd like to keep it around $1500, but cheaper is always better (duh). I'm going to be recording alt/rock/prog directly to a DAW using a MOTU running at 96k and 24bit. A little color would be nice I think...

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, guys...

I would suggest you use the search engine for "mic pre" and spend a few hours reading and learning. Well worth the investment of time...
