Ok to make a long story short I have been recording music for quite some time now from my electric keyboards's 1/4inch output directly to my PC sound card's 1/8inch line in. I have been using the free program Audacity for my recording software of choice and it has worked wonders for it being free. But now I'm ready to start recording vocals over my finalized music tracks and since I'm new to that I figured I would ask for some help. Ok so I'm under the impression I deffinitely want to get a interface to use for my vocal recording instead of it just going directly to Pc is that correct? If so what should I buy Im looking for something cheap being I dont need anything huge, but I want it be a pound for pound good buy. So I did a little research and came across this

http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Digidesign-Mbox-2-Mini-?sku=700498

this is about the price id be willing to pay right now and people have been saying good things about this product what do you guys think would this be great for me or something else? Please list any products you guys know of, to show me more of whats out there. Also how would this mbox interface record my keyboard? would I just plug my 1/4" stereo output wire from my keyboards output into the 1/4" input on the back? and then in my recording software just select the mbox usb device as the input? thanks

Right, and audio interface is what you want. Recording MIDI out of your keyboard may be of help as well. The M-Audio FireWire 410 seems like it would fit your needs and budget. It will probably come bundled with recording software. If that doesn't suit your needs look into Reaper, Cakewalk then Cubase (in order of price low to high that work well with MIDI) In general I have found that M-Audio make audio interfaces with a great value.
