I am fairly new to recording and i have been using my Behringer mixer to my digital 4 track to sound card but i am losing quality (i guessing throught the four tracks A/D converter) so i am bypassing that by soon buying a, m-audio 1010 interface/soundcard (8 in/8out)

problem is i want to use my mixers preamps becuase my budget has been stretched my too thin. so my question is how do i run all those outs from my mixer to interface to keep all 8 tracks seperated.

also is there anything that i will need that i am overlooking or perhaps dont know about?

thanks for the help

Could you elaborate on how your behringer is configured? How many channels, buses & etc. Usually with a small mixer, the direct outs, tape outs, or subgroup outs go to the line inputs on the 1010 and the outputs from the 1010 can connect to the tape returns or channel inputs. I interface my MX8000 via the tape send & returns to my (2) Echo Layla's and (1) Alesis Adat XT20. This is one of the ways I configure my analog mixer to my sound cards and multitrack recorder. Also you can go direct to the 1010's inputs, bypassing the mixer all together.
