I am stuck with a DJ mix, but it's recorded as one track only. What is the easiest way to record it and burn to CD-R so I get all 15 tracks so I can switch from track to track, but still get smooth DJ mix from one song to the next without any breaks? I tried many programs, however they never seem to work or I am not doing it right. I need some help. Thanks!

I have not done this, but you could probably open the long wave file in something like Wavelab, and "chop it up" into one "song" per window, and then save these individual "songs" (DON'T delete any audio data, or it will not play "seamlessly". Use Cut/Paste functions). Then, burn a CD with Nero (or whatever software you use). Make sure to add the songs in the correct order. If you burn the CD properly (W/O adding 2 seconds of silence between each track), you should still have a full DJ mix that plays seamlessly, and you will have the track markers you need.
There is probably an easier way, but that is what I'd do with the software I have...

hey buddy the thing is I have a program to cut one track into many tracks (Meda MP3 Splitter), however when I burn the tracks I add 0 sec. for the space in between each song. So technically it should burn smoothly so that anyone can hear the mix from one song to another without any breaks in between each song. Smooth like a DJ mix CD. I use Nero 6 and I also tried Roxio 7, however when I record with 0 sec. in between each track I still get a little click in between each song when I play back the cd. No matter which cd player I play it in. So I do not get a smooth mix between the tracks because I hear a little click when it changes to the next track. How can I burn the CD so I do not get any clicks in between the tracks?
PS. By the way I use memorex CD-R's and Imation inkjet printable hub CD-R's.

AHHH. I think doing the "Track Splitting" with a MP3 editor may be your problem!!! Try using a program that will allow you to open the WAVE file, and work with the WAVE files, not MP3's. You will end up with a higher resolution CD, too (converting to and from MP3 is a VERY "lossy" process - you should not have ANY losses if you stay in a WAVE format).

I use Wavelab 4.0 for 2-track editing. Any descent audio program should be able to open stereo WAVE files (as long as it is not a program dedicated to MP3's). I think MP3's will have issues editing at a sample accurate level due to the compression used (I may be wrong).

Some very old CD-players may have a problem playing the CD and add a short silence inbetween, but most players has no problems.

I burned the tracks with Nero, with no pause in between each track and some of the tracks are okay when changing to the next track, but most tracks have a slight pause in between. Maybe it's the program I am usuing to cut the tracks. I am using Meda MP3 Splitter.

Do you have an original WAVE of this mix? Or do you ONLY have an MP3? It sounds like you have converted your WAVE file into an MP3 just so you can use your MP3 Meda Splitter. This is taking a big step DOWN in quality.
I do think these issues were caused in Meda MP3 Splitter (still assuming here). Try opening the ORIGINAL long wave file in Samplitude, or Wavelab, etc. Then, do your track markers w/o having to "chop-up" the song. Even if you did chop up the Wave files, they should still be able to play seamlessly from track-to-track.

If you open the original WAVE file, you should be able to quickly set your CD Track Marker Points, and burn away. This ONE WAVE FILE will translate into 10 or more tracks on the CD (by adding the CD Markers), but it will play as one long wave file if desired. It will still look like ONE FILE in the program, but the CD Track Markers will "tell" the CD where to put its "Tracks" within this long file.
What editing do you need to do to the Wave file (besides adding CD Markers?).

I put special effects to some of the tracks and I like the special effects and some of the tracks. I have to raise the gain because the volume is too low. I like it better the tracks I cut. What I did was I had the tracks cut up as MP3 and then I converted all the songs to WAV file and still have the same problem burning. I have all the songs cut already I just want to know is there a burning software other then Nero and Roxio that can burn it without the breaks in between each track? Like blending the tracks in or cutting a half a sec or a sec. off the ends. Because I think the program Meda MP3 Splitter cuts off like a sec off the end of some tracks and maybe thats why I do not get smooth DJ mix and cuts in between each track??? I am puzzled???

2) Drop all your multiple wavs into Nero in the right order
3) Burn the CD using Disc At Once mode with zero seconds between tracks.
Done and done. 8-)

I tried that and it did not work. Some of the tracks do not have space in between, but some do. And when you listen there are breaks in between some songs. I believe it was the way the Meda MP3 splitter split them up. But now I wan to know if there is a way to get those wav tracks and put them all together into a huge wav track? Then break it up with the other program? It is totally difficult what I am doing, but I don't know why exactly it's doing this. You guys I have MSN, Yahoo and ICQ messengers. Please hook me up. Try just using iTunes to actually burn the CD once you've split up the set into individual tracks. The preferences are easy to understand, just make sure in the burning options you have it set to burn as an audio cd, with No Gap between tracks.
If you've split up the file properly, there will be no clicks between tracks. I'd recommend using wavelab to take the initial set and break it up into tracks using the Markers. Its fairly easy to do, just use Wavelabs help files to learn how to use the markers.
So from the beginning, do it like this:
1. Make any "edits" to the INITIAL, long wav file. (if you do it after you break up the tracks, there will most likely be an inconsistency from track to track, after you put it back together.)
2. Break up the set by using markers, in Wavelab.
3. burn the disc using iTunes.
This is the easiest way I can really think of. Good luck.

Are you sure Itunes won't be the same like Nero and reconize each track as individual tracks. All I need is a burning program that can burn without breaks in between songs. I have the orginal long wav file and I'm going to cut the tracks again in wavelab and see what happens. Are you sure Ituns is good for burning? Is it similar to Nero or Roxio? What is the lastest version of Wavelab I have version 4.0. Will 4.0 be okay to cut the mix into tracks?

Below is exactly how you do it (the way I did it and easiest for me)
1) First record you mix from mixer (equipment) to PC and use Creative Recorder to record your mix to your PC as wav. Learn how to record from your mixer to PC. I cannot explain all the steps because it would take forever.
2) Next as soon as you have your long mix as a wav file, take it to Adobe Auditions and master it there. (Learn how to use Auditions).
3) After that, take your new wav file and open it up in Steinberg Wavelab. I use version 4.0. Then add markers there. Where ever one song ends and the other starts. To add a marker press ctrl + insert on keyboard and add the marker called CD track splice. On the right of the new marker dialog box check off quantize to CD frame and lock position only. In addition, do that for the rest of the mix.
4) After you have done that highlight (click) the beginning of the mix and as you can see part of the mix (the first track) is highlighted. If you do not know what is happening at this stage then forget it you will never be back in a studio again. LOL. Okay, after you have done this copy the first track (the portion you just highlighted) and right click and copy. Then open a new wav document and paste (the first track) what you just copied.
5) Then you are ready to record (not burn to CD - record) your first track from that huge file you've created. Hopefully you're still in Wavelab, go to file, save as and save your track where ever you wish on your PC. When you finished saving the track then do the same thing with all the tracks from the long wav file you have.
6) When you are finished that you should have all your songs from that long wav file cut. From here it's CD burning time. You can do this in Nero 6.0 (what I use), however it will not be the same as burning a regular audio CD. Let me tell you and listen very closely. Open Nero StartSmart. Go to applications on the left side and click Nero Burning ROM.
7) When you have that open you are ok. From Nero Burning ROM go to New Compilation if the dialog box didn't open for you. In the dialog box select CD and audio CD on left side menu. Then you will see four tabs at the middle top of the window. Click the Audio CD tab. There you can type your info it's straight forward. By the way, if you didn't know what UPC/EAN code means just leave that space blank. Now click on CDA tab. The boxes at the bottom, remove silence and cache track, should be checked off. CD file strategy set to default. Now go to burn tab on top (please do not burn the CD as of yet). GO TO BURN TAB ON THAT WINDOW. For action, write and finalize CD should be check off. Nothing else from the top should be checked off. Now go to write method and choose from the scroll bar disc-at-once (do not choose disc-at-once/96). Checkmark buffer underrun protection box. Anything else I didn't mention please DO NOT worry about or click on.
8) Okay, after that click on open in the same dialog box. Choose your files (the individual tracks - not the long wave file you mixed). After you select the files or folder, I believe the dialog box will disappear. If the audio file is not on the left of the main screen, then go to the right, highlight your files, and drag them to the left of the main screen. Now you have your entire file on the left. Now put your files in order, which they go in. Then click anywhere on the first file listed there. Audio track properties dialog box appears. Leave everything the way it is just click the two bottom check boxes. Protection and cross fade (you cannot choose cross fade for the first track - but the other tracks you can). Then for cross fades, choose 0 seconds (like I said again for the first track you cannot choose cross fade).
9) When you are done all that then you are a master at recording. Here comes the CD burning process. Go to the main menu Recorder and choose burn compilation. After that, another dialog box opens up. Do not change anything in that dialog box just go to the right on that dialog box and click BURN. That's it huh? Pretty easy?
In the near future I might make a power point presentation or something of how to record mixes to CD. Who knows, however I need someones help to achieve this?
