I would like to buy Focusrite Voicemaster Pro,and I wonder is it enough good to record profesional voices(I mean sound really good) with my AKG414 to DAW via MOTU2408,as it will sureley be with lets say Avalon 737 or some pres in that class?
The question could be in this way:
Is it better spend 600$ for VoicemasterPro and have enough good vocals or 2000$ for Avalon 737 and have (what I heard) really god vocals?

Maybe the VMPro is better, but I have the original VM and it is truly awful. The only thing I ended up using it for was the de-esser, and now I have a dedicated Drawmer unit for those rare occasions.
The 737 is really worth it. The compressor can be a little finicky, but the mic pre and eq are very sweet. Mercenary Audio has their own edition for $1750 (functionally identical, different color). Another good choice is the Langevin Dual Vocal Combo, two channels of mic pre, hi/lo eq, and opto compressor for $1600. The Toft Audio units might be good choices as well, the price is certainly right, but I don't think they've hit the streets yet.
