Hello Im running Nuendo 3.1 and a VST plugin called Drumkits from hell pack2 and when I'm loading a drumkit it tells me "WARNING: memory is getting low. This may cause dropouts or other artefacts!"

Can some one help. what should i do.

my pc is like this.

3.0ghz p4 HT
1g Ram
Emu1820 as my sound card and interfase
200gb HD

Does it have to do with the buffer? mine is low for very very low latency. or is it ram or hd?

1 - Update to 3.2 (Click Here!) - this adds a bit more memory error handling when memory does get low (e.g. the project can become corrupt - in 3.1 it might happen without warning - with 3.2 you get an error message to save the project to a new filename - though annoying, I haven't lost a project when saving to a new file at that point).

2 - You need more RAM, or load a lighter sample set. Even 1.5G would help when running DFH. I have run into this memory error with 2G.

3 - The biggest solution I found when hitting this wall with 2G is to add the /3G switch to force windows to forget the 1.3G limit on most apps - now I can run Windows down to only 250k or so of free memory. That's really pushing it, but I don't get memory warning message from Nuendo, and it runs better with higher memory usage in general. This doesn't really apply to 1G systems but if you move to 2G it's worth considering.

Hi dterry and everyone,
I´m running Nuendo 2.0 and I have the same problem with this error message - WARNING: memory is getting low or “ERROR: could not load sample (no big enough memory block available)"
But I have 3,5GB!
Also, when I try loading more samples from VST library I have horrible message from Nuendo like:
A serious problem occurred… try to save this project under other name – etc.

My current pc config. is: Pentium 4 3.00GHz, MB ASUSTek P4P800SE with 4 memory slots
> DDR-DIMM. (400MHz):
now I have:
1GB
1GB
1GB
512MB

What is wrong? Can you help me?
Thanks a lot.

More memory doesn't hurt, especially when maxing out on plugins. But also, one must consider efficiency.

Two things download freeware program called "Ccleaner" and run the Cleaner. ln addition run the Issues scan and fix. This program goes way beyond Windows standard Disk Cleaner.

Second:
Defrag page file- turn off pagefile under control panel > reboot computer>Open dos window > at prompt type "defrag c: -f" no quotes. This forces defrag to be performed on C drive including pagefile. When complete go to control panel and turn pagefile back on.

I got this from one of the XP optimization guides and found that it seems to work. Over time the computer accumalates alot of crap from all the file managment and buffering it perfoms and really causes the PC to slowdown and start glitching. I left my parents computer alone for 6 months and I noticed a big difference before and after running the above fixes.
