My ipod crashed in the first 30 minutes of use but hasn't crashed after that in over a month. My Powerbook which I got recently and this is the first time I could actually work on it (because of the tremendous difficulty I had to get the hard drive upgraded because of real bad support and confusion of terms of warranty with their support people), crashed in the first 30 minutes and it crashed again as I write!
What must be wrong? Anybody? I put 2 gig of Kingston RAM (http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator/partsinfo.asp?ktcpartno=KTA-PB533/1G).

My powerbook freezed 2 times while I was copying files from a DVD to the hard drive. I was using the Kingston RAM. Once I removed it and put the one that came with the powerbook back, it worked with out a problem. Now I am not sure where to get the RAM from and I might just order it directly from Apple. I have only 512 and I really was hoping to have 2 gig but that seems unlikely now especially if I have to order it from Apple.

If you get the new ram and it, too, doesn't work, assuming you have two 1g sticks, try switching them in their sockets.
Certainly, try them one at a time - in each socket. May be some other problem? Like maybe a dirty socket, if it has been around for awhile with nothing plugged into it. Just plugging/unplugging, etc. a few times may "cure" the problem.
I trust you are already sure the machine is capable of supporting two gigs of ram..?
