Noisy Trident S20 -- What to do?

I was recording at home last night and had to switch from my Trident S20 to a Digi 002 Rack simply because of too much noise.

We were recording an acoustic using nice condenser mics and getting all kinds of hiss and unwanted subtle noise. We tried everything: switching mic cables, ground lift, turning lights in the house off, different mics, and it didn't go away until we switched over to the Digi 002.

My question is: Does anyone know anything about this Trident being noisy? Or did I miss something? Any suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As a matter of fact, I just used my s20 on tracking drums for a client tonight. I love my s20, it's one of the best pre's that i use. As far as noise goes it's a verry verry ultra quiet pre. I can crank the gain up all the way , and the damn thing still doesent hiss. The headroom on the amp is excellent. When my d/a is peaking, the amp is still way in the "green" which i like to see in a pre. I dont like my pre in the "yellow" when im hitting digital "red" (0dbfs). There may be possibly something wrong with the unit you have, or possibly a cable/connection issue with the pin regestration. check all the equipment you are interconnecting , make sure all the pins (3 total) are correct, according to the manuals.
