I was up browsing the PLEXTOR web site about a week ago and noticed that none of their current drives mentioned compatibility with Plextools. So, I dashed off an email to their Tech Support group and received the following response:
"Our newest bacth of drives, the 800 models, can only work with the very basic parts of Plextools.
You will be able to burn and read with that software, but little else. They were not designed to work with Plextools
Plextor"
I'm checking to see if they have any new designs in the wings that will work with Plextools. If not, there goes the best value in CD error checking on the market. The Plextools web site only lists compatibility with certain 700 series drives.

Plextor PlexWriter Premium2 - very good working with PlexTools (included) and is cheap:-))
Unfortunately none of the drives compatible with Plextools advanced error checking are still being made. The factory where they were made stopped making optical drives about a year ago so any drives that you find will be at least a year old.

I've begun discovering this very thing when I put a new 800 Series drive in my wife's new photo computer to find out it didn't come with PlexTools and doesn't support my older version.
