So, I installed a Mbox2 Mini on a pc with vista 32bit as the OS, only to realize after I installed it that the pc doesn't have a firewire port on it for an external HD.
Short of buying an actual pci card for the computer, is there a work around for this? I would just use a HD with USB 2.0, but that is expressly forbidden, in fact, I haven't even tried it.
What do you guys think?
Thank you!

I'd say spend the $50 or under for a good PCI card.

As long as it has its own bus you should be fine.

The Mbox2 Mini is a desperately disappointing product for the money. Two-channel input but only one mic pre-amp?

Also, just to let you know, I tried running with a usb external hd and it works just fine. Granted it was a test run, and with only two tracks of audio with some additional plug-ins, but it did work just fine. I'm not sure what the maxium track count would be though.
Any other thoughts?
And what the heck it s PCIe card? What's the diff?

PCI and PCIExpress. The difference is the speed of the lower end data bus, I think.
Wiki says "A key difference between PCIe and earlier PC buses is a topology based on point-to-point serial links, rather than a shared parallel bus architecture."
PCIe is the new thing, PCI is oldschool from the early 90's, getting onboard PCIe is well worth it.
