I haven't liked a single SE mic except the se 5000 (sadly discontinued). I think it cost me $300 or so from Bayview a year ago and I have used it extensively, almost every session. Very good for vocals or overhead. If all they did was spiff up the outside for the new "z" series, it might be worth a listen, but don't buy it without listening.

I have also had good luck with the se5000, but can't comment as to the rest of their line. I would probably look more towards Studio Projects or Rode. Doc
