I'll try Long and McQuade today which is waaaaaaaaaaay better and more professional store (I don't even wanna mention it's waaaaaaaay cheaper!)

Hi Hypothesis,
I've got it too :) If I want something really bad I usually go and get it :) It sounds really good but I also use XLS Food's Best Bass sample CD. I don't need anything else. My digital bass sounds are covered:) For real bass sounds I get a good bass player:)
txn anyway Hypothesis!
Hopefully you guys who have Trilogy are still interested in this
Hopefully you guys who have Trilogy are still interested in this thread, because my interest has been piqued by this product.
I usually try to get a "natural" sounding bass into my arrangements by using samples. By natural, I mean 'not artificial' sounding. It could be an upright...fretless, electric etc....but I want it to sound as close to real as it can get. To date, I've primarily been using soundfonts...and they work pretty well.
Although never out of the question, I pretty much have the synth bass angle covered....I just don't need or use them that much in my style of music (and I have multiple synths if I do)..but I'm always in the market for more "real" sounding basses.
So, from your perspective, is the Trilogy worth the money if that's pretty much all I'm going to be using it for? Do the real bass sounds sound real? Do they sound exceptionally real?
Also, it would help if where you bought it and what you paid were shared...so that someone might know where to look for the best deal.
Thanks!
Best Regards,
Kev.

Keep in mind one other product:
Yellow Tools' Majestic.
It's a plug-in sample engine just like the Spectrasonics stuff. Has all bass sounds. Haven't heard tons of the sounds yet, but I have used the demo (which has one fully functional sound set), and it sounds really impeccable. Obviously the whole shebang has more and better sounds. :(
Download both demos at:

They have two more coming, as well!

I have TONS of sample CD's, and none sounds as good as the Trilogy in terms of realism & PHATNESS. Trilogy covers almost every kind of bass sounds, and all of them sound PHAT & BIG, which is ussualy not the case with the Sample CD's. I will definitely buy the other two products from Spectratonics, cause I heared them, and they RULE too...

Hey Chris,
For most of my sampled bass sounds, I use soundfonts thru LiveSynth Pro (w/Sonar).
I think I can locate a program that will convert the samples....or maybe I'll just invest in a different synth.
What were the sampled cd's you were going to suggest?
Best-
Kev
